The Gym Grunter
I have yet to work-out in a gym in this city, from Crunch to NY Fitness, even hotel "fitness centers' without their share of "grunters." You know, those men (NEVER women) who lift weights to the sound of their own grunts and snorts and vocalizations of pure testosterone.
But in most public gym situations it is at least fairly anonymous. You may see the people who workout when you do, but even then, no names, no hellos; definitely less humanizing.
But I have a gym in my building and even there we have a full set of grunters. It is pretty small and in a building, you kind of know people who go to the gym. I just came back from the gym, it was just me and one of the most serious grunters in the building. He seems so nice otherwise, I almost feel compelled to ask why he is so loud.
This may be the first draw-back of a gym in the building...
